Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a minimum age to participate? Can I bring my young children? Should grandpa come with us?
This pilgrimage can accommodate groups of teens and their adult chaperones, as well as college students, young adults, and families. You will find that the itinerary moves quickly to keep pace with energetic minds and bodies.

Generally, international pilgrimages are best suited for participants ages 14-60 in good physical condition. We recommend that pilgrims younger than 16 travel with their own parent as their chaperone, and that families with younger children be prepared to sit out of activities if their children require additional down time or other special attention. Adults traveling with children younger than 14 will not be able to chaperone other youth in the group. This pilgrimage is not recommended for families with infants or toddlers.

Do you provide a chaperone for my son/daughter?
No. All minors (<18 years of age) must travel with their own chaperone. Chaperones must be an adult age 21+, or a family member age 18+. For example, your son (age 17) could travel with your family friend (age 37) as his chaperone, or your daughter (age 16) could travel with her sister (age 19) as her chaperone. Minors must be able to share a hotel room with their chaperone or another pilgrim in their own group, as we will not assign minors to share rooms with other pilgrims.

How are hotel rooms assigned?
Hotel rooms will be shared by 2-3 pilgrims traveling together. Adult pilgrims may be asked to share a room with other adult pilgrims of the same sex, depending of the mix of ages and genders in the final group. Private rooms are available, at additional cost, for adults only. Room assignments will be emailed to you at least two weeks prior to departure.

Will you book my flights?
Group airfare is available only from New York City on the designated departure date, Thursday, July 30th, with a return to New York City on the designated return date, Thursday, August 6th.

Because participants in this pilgrimage will otherwise be flying from multiple cities across the United States, we are not able to make group airfare reservations for you from your particular departure city. You may choose a "Land Only" package and reserve your own flights to/from Italy, or you may choose an "NYC" package and reserve your round-trip flights between your nearest airport and New York City. Please contact our office if you need assistance choosing between the two options.

What are the designated arrival and departure times? Why are they  important?
"Land Only" Packages
When reserving your flights, plan to arrive at Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) by 12:00pm on Friday, July 31st and to depart the same airport after 8:00am on Thursday, August 6th. These flight times enable you to use the group airport transfers. If you arrive after or depart before the designated times, you will be responsible for arranging transportation from/to the airport at your own expense.

"NYC" Packages

Group flights between NYC and Italy will be reserved after January 15, 2020. Flight reservation details will then be posted to your private group website, allowing you to reserve flights into/out of NYC, if needed.
