9-Day Itinerary

Day 1    Depart your city for Munich

Day 2    Arrive in Munich,  transfer to lodging, Welcome Mass and dinner

Day 3    Take a walking tour of Munich, visit Munich's cathedral, churches, and famous Cuckoo Clock

Day 4    Take a day trip to Altötting and Andechs, visit the shrine of Our Lady and the Andechs Monastery

Day 5    Travel to Frankfurt with a stop in Augsburg and Stuttgart along the way

Day 6     Take a walking tour of Frankfurt, visit the cathedral and Wahlkapelle

Day 7     Take a day trip to Aachen and Cologne, visit the Cathedral of Aachen and see the tomb of Charlemagne, visit Cologne's
                   gothic Cathedral

Day 8     Take a day trip to Ebingen, pray before the tomb of St. Hildegard of Bingen and tour the Abbey, enjoy a free afternoon in Frankfurt

Day 9     Depart Frankfurt for your city


Mass will be celebrated daily within the itinerary.

About Germany

Munich is home to many beautiful Catholic Churches including the Cathedral Church of Our Lady, or Frauenkirche,  a late Gothic church dating back to the 15th century. 
Michaelskirche, a beautiful Jesuit church, is the largest Renaissance church north of the Alps, and Peterskirche is the oldest recorded parish church in the city. Peterskirche uniquely displays elements of Gothic, Baroque, and Rococo architecture, and houses the jeweled skeleton of Saint Munditia, martyr.

The Rathaus-Glockenspiel is the famous Cuckoo Clock in Munich's Marienplatz Square. Every day at 11 AM, 12 PM (and 5 PM between March and October) visitors to the square can see its life-size characters reenact famous scenes from Munich's history.

The ​Shrine of Our Lady of Altötting, often called the "Lourdes of Germany," is home to  a miraculous wooden image of Mother Mary and the Child Jesus. Since the Middle Ages, pilgrims have come here to pray before the Black Madonna, known to restore life and to heal injuries, as evidenced by the many crutches left behind by grateful pilgrims.

The Andechs Monastery on the Holy Mountain of Bavaria has been a pilgrimage site since the 12th century. Pilgrims from all over come to pray before many important relics, including a thorn from Christ's Crown of Thorns. Since the 17th century, pilgrims have also been coming to reverence the miraculous Gothic image of the Mother of God.

The Catholic Church of the Holy Cross in Augsburg  is home to a Eucharistic Miracle that dates back to 1194. Pilgrims can take time for personal prayer and adoration before this miracle, known locally as "The Miraculous Good." Also in Augsburg, visit the nearby Augsburg Cathedral,  and the Churches of St. Anna, and St. Moritz.

The Cathedral of Aachen, whose construction began between 793-813 under the Emperor Charlemagne, is one of the oldest cathedrals in Europe.  Visitors will marvel at the cathedral's architecture and artwork, and can even dedicate time to reverence the relics of the Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne who is buried here.

The Kaiserdom Sankt Bartholomäus, the Imperial Cathedral of Saint Bartholomew, is the main church of Frankfurt and was constructed in the 14th and 15th centuries.  The church houses a relic of its patron's skull.  The ​Wahlkapelle, a chapel on the south side of the choir, is where Holy Roman Emperors were crowned King of Germany for nearly four centuries.

The Dominican Church of St. Andrew in Cologne is s Romanesque church dating back to the 10th century. In the crypt of the church, a large Roman sarcophagus holds the remains of St. Albertus Magnus. This saint, often known as Saint Albert the Great was a German Dominican friar, scientist, philosopher, bishop, and Doctor of the Church.

The Cathedral Church of Saint Peter in Cologne is an enormous, twin-spired, gothic cathedral, a World Heritage Site, and Germany's most visited landmark. Pilgrims will have an opportunity to reverence the relics of the Magi at the Shrine of the Three Kings behind the high altar of the cathedral.

The Abbey of St. Hildegard is a Benedictine monastery in Eibingen near the Rhine River. Here pilgrims will spend time in prayer, and can also make a visit to the nearby Parish Church of Ebingen to pray before the tomb of St. Hildegard, Doctor of the Church. ​
