The Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Carmen in the colorful town of Guatapé is built in the Greco-Roman style and took about 70 years to complete. Its facade is adorned with fleur-de-lis and zocalos of an angel, a lion, a bull, and an eagle, representing the four evangelists.

El Peñol de Guatapé also called El Peñon, or simply La Piedra, towers 200 meters above its base. Visitors can climb the staircase of about 700 steps built into one side of the rock to get to the top and enjoy magnificent views of the region.
