Salvador de Bahia + WYD Rio (Can be done Post-WYD as well)
July 18 Depart your city for Salvador de Bahia July 19 Arrive in Salvador, meet your local guide and transfer to your lodging to check in. We will begin a walking tour of the city center, including Catedral Basilica, San Francisco and Camo Churches. We will eat dinner together at or near our lodging and celebrate Mass at a local parish. July 20 Breakfast at lodging, Lower city tour visiting Irma Dulce Memorial, Exploring the religious artifacts at the Museu de Arte Sacra and Benedictine Monastery July 21 Breakfast at lodging, full day to Praia Cachoeira beach July 22 Breakfast at lodging, We will fly to Rio de Janeiro sometime today. Upon arrival in Rio, we will meet our JMJ Youth guide, check into our lodging and if time permits, we will have a walking tour of the city center this evening. July 23 Ascend Corcovado to Christ the Redeemer Statue, recently elected as one of the seven modern wonders of the world, which sits 2,300 above sea level (subject to availability). WYD begins this evening with Mass July 24 Morning catechesis, afternoon and evening WYD events July 25 Morning catechesis, welcoming ceremony with our Holy Father July 26 Morning catechesis, afternoon WYD events, Stations of the Cross July 27 Pilgrimage to and participate in the Prayer Vigil with our Holy Father July 28 Morning Mass with our Holy Father, evening free July 29 Depart Rio for home or a post-WYD option *****Daily Mass included if you travel with a priest *****Local Masses when possible if you travel without a priest Because of limited flight capacity, groups will need to be flexible with the return date by two days.
